1. Introduction and Objectives

Objective: Introduce beginners to the world of rock climbing by teaching fundamental skills, safety measures, and basic climbing techniques.

Target Audience: People with no prior climbing experience who want to learn the basics safely and effectively.

2. Programme Structure

Day 1: Introduction to Rock Climbing

Theory:

  • What is rock climbing? Different types (sport, traditional, bouldering).

  • Safety principles in climbing: falls, belaying, communication.

  • Basic belaying techniques and fall control.

  • Essential equipment: harnesses, ropes, carabiners, helmets.

  • How to use and adjust climbing gear.

Practice:

  • Familiarisation with the equipment.

  • Basic climbing techniques: grips, simple movements.

  • Climbing on easy, controlled routes.

  • Basic belaying and descending techniques.

  • Supervised climbing on beginner routes.

  • Exercises to improve technique and confidence.

Day 2: Safety and Basic Technique

Theory:

  • Climbing safety principles: falls, belaying, communication.

  • Basic belaying techniques and fall control.

  • Techniques for more efficient climbing: body positioning, movement.

  • How to overcome the fear of heights and build confidence.

  • How to apply learned techniques in different situations.

Practice:

  • Basic belaying and descending techniques.

  • Supervised climbing on beginner routes.

  • Exercises to improve technique and confidence.

  • Technical exercises on easy routes.

  • Climbing on different types of routes, focusing on control and technique.

  • Guided climbing on routes adapted to participants’ skill levels.

  • Exercises to overcome fear and build confidence.

Day 3: Evaluation and Conclusion

Theory:

  • Assessment of acquired skills and knowledge.

  • Discussion on next steps and how to continue learning.

  • Review of learned concepts and Q&A session.

Practice:

  • Climbing on beginner-level routes to demonstrate skills.

  • Evaluation of techniques and correction of mistakes.

  • Final review with personalised feedback.

  • Certificate presentation for participation and achievements.

3. Required Equipment

For Instructors:

  • Complete climbing equipment.

  • Safety and first aid materials.

For Participants:

  • Harness (provided by Va Viajes).

  • Climbing shoes (participants must bring their own).

  • Helmet (provided by Va Viajes).

  • Belay devices (provided by Va Viajes).

  • Comfortable and suitable clothing.

4. Requirements and Safety

  • Good general health.
