Workshop in Malinche

The La Malinche High Mountain Workshop is designed for adventurers looking to hone their skills in the challenging yet accessible environment of La Malinche National Park. At an altitude of 4,462 meters above sea level, La Malinche is ideal for introducing participants to the demands of high mountains, such as reduced oxygen levels, variable temperatures, and managing steep terrain. This course is aimed at both intermediate mountaineers and those looking to take their first step into the world of high peaks.

During the course, participants will learn steep hiking techniques, crampon handling in snowy or icy conditions, and proper ice axe use. They will also be instructed on the importance of proper acclimatization, how to prevent altitude sickness, and strategies for maintaining a steady pace during the ascent. They will also be taught basic high-altitude safety principles, such as route planning, natural hazard recognition, and decision-making under changing conditions.

La Malinche offers a perfect setting to apply this knowledge in practical outings. Participants will practice orientation skills with a map and compass, as well as learn how to navigate mixed rock and snow terrain. The summit of La Malinche will provide the opportunity to experience the physical and mental demands of high altitudes in a controlled environment.

In addition to climbing techniques, the course will foster a strong environmental awareness, promoting respect for the local ecosystem and the use of minimal-impact practices. Participants will prepare not only to conquer this summit, but to do so responsibly, respecting the park's biodiversity and natural resources.

In short, this course at La Malinche provides an excellent platform for improving high-altitude skills, preparing participants for future challenges on higher peaks, all while enjoying the natural beauty of one of Mexico's most iconic volcanoes.
