About the event
This 40,000-hectare park, located in the states of Mexico, Puebla, and Morelos, is part of the Sierra Nevada and is one of the oldest protected areas in Mexico.
The meeting point is at your hotel or a designated stop. The time will be 6 am, with an approximate transfer time of two hours. The hike is 8.8 km, 15 minutes from the Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl Park on the Puebla side. We enter the La Venta Ecotourism Village. From there, we begin the hike to the upper part to reach the Apatlaco Ecological Park, where Cerro Gordo is located. The ascent is along one of its slopes. There are no marked trails or paths. At the top, the view is worth it, as it is a quiet, uncrowded place where you can meditate or simply observe the impressive views of the Pico de Orizaba, Malinche, Cofre de Perote, Popocatépetl, and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes.
