The Last Station of the Desert (2 Days)
Quiotepec Oax.
Seven rivers that feed the main river, currently called the Grande or Upper Papaloapan River, moisten and give life to this land; on the west side are the Tomellin, Apoala, Sabino, and Salado rivers; to the east, the Las Vueltas river, and two other rivers that descend abruptly from the mountains where the Papaloticpac lordship was located, the Chiquito and the Cacahuatal. In the lower reaches of the latter, there were many conflicts over the boundaries of their lands, from the time the great Cuicatec lord Tiñaña of Cuicatlán ruled, and the great Mazatec lord Tico of Quiotepec ruled. In 1676, it was in the hands of Rosalía de Monjarás, appointed cacica of Quiotepec and who resided on the Cacahuatal Ranch.
