XOCHITÉCATL
It is an archaeological site located in the municipality of Nativitas, in the southern part of the Mexican state of Tlaxcala. It is a group of monuments of singular importance as one of the oldest settlements in the Tlaxcala-Puebla Valley.
"Place of the Flower Lineage". (300 BC to 900 AD) Ceremonial center of the Olmec-Xicalanca, it is located on a hill from where there is a magnificent view of the volcanoes, the Pyramid of Flowers is the most important of this site and is considered the fourth largest in Mesoamerica. In Xochitécatl many figures of women in labor and pregnant women were found, which is why it is considered a fertility cult site related to the veneration of Tlazoltéotl, the goddess of fertility and harvests, she was also Goddess of newborn children and women who died in childbirth. Therefore, Tlazoltéotl was the representation of the Mother Goddess, the earth, who is the one who shelters and feeds her children. The importance of the earth goddesses in central Mexico used to be greater than that of their male counterparts, hence the beauty of Xochitécatl, a cult of life and the mother. The Spiral Building, the Volcano Base, and the Serpent Building also coexist in this ceremonial center.
